Genevieve Wilkins
Genevieve is a member of Ensemblebash, UK’s premiere percussion ensemble and a founding member of “The G Project”, an exciting new collaboration in 2010 with cellist Gabriella Swallow.
She also performs regularly with composer Andrew Poppy’s “Sustaining Ensemble”, Dekata Project and 2010 see's her join world/jazz bassist Nathan Riki Thomson's Band.
Genevieve has performed with and/or recorded with Lionel Richie, Akon, Joanna MacGregor, Nash Ensemble, Karen David, DJ Panko (Ojos de Brujo), DJ Pathaan, Alex Wilson, Gavin Bryars, Olly Fox, John Crawford Quintet, Steve Schick, Dan Darriba, Siskin, Ensemble Pi, Tetrafide Percussion and was a founding member of flamenco fusion group Alcazaba. Genevieve's orchestral credits include the London Sinfonia, Malaysian Philharmonic, New London Orchestra and the West Australian Symphony.
Her West End credits include Thriller Live” (West End (2009-current, deputy) and stadium world tour (2009)), “Never Forget:The Musical” (Savoy Theatre 2008 and Tour 2009- current (deputy)). Genevieve also performs regularly as principal percussionist at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, productions include “Macbeth: Playing Shakespeare” (MD 2010), “Troilus and Cressida” (2009), “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (2008), “Romeo and Juliet: Playing Shakespeare” (2009) and “The Frontline” (dep. MD-2009).
Genevieve has a strong background in Music Education and is currently an Outreach Mentor for the Royal College of Music as well as a tutor in professional skills at Trinity College of Music. She has devised a series of body percussion workshops titled bodyBEAT, which she presents for various schools, tertiary institutions, music education societies and festivals.
These have included the Royal College of Music (UK), Spitalfields Festival, New London Orchestra, Institute for Global Ethics, University of Western Australia, Elevancos International Orff Conference, Australia’s Musica Viva and the Shanghai International and American Schools. She has previously been involved with devising, presenting and leading workshops for Children’s Music Workshop and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Educational Chamber Orchestra (EchO).
