Brendan Dougherty
Brendan Dougherty was born in Philadelphia and has resided in Berlin since 2002. While studying at the Philadelphia Conservatory for the Performing Arts, he founded Scrapple Records to promote the local jazz and improvised music. As a part of the Meicht Group he held a monthly residency at the Knitting Factory (NYC) and performed with many local jazz artists (Bobby Zankel, Grover Washington, Matthew Mitchell).
As a composer he has written music for theatre and dance (with Meg Stuart, Jeremy Wade), as well as for TV, film and multimedia.
He has worked with Jazz and improvised music Artists including Billy Bang, Axel Dörner, Silke Eberhardt, Lukas Ligeti, Kim Cascone, Jochen Arbeit and Aleksander Kolkowski. He has released records on the Utech, Scrapple and Why Record Labels.
